9th INTERNATIONAL GROUNDWATER CONFERENCE- 2022
Effective Management of (sub)-surface Water Resources in Arid and Semi-Arid regions
Organized by
Department of Hydrology
IIT Roorkee
Nov 2-4, 2022
About Conference
The international conferences in the IGWC series are the meeting point for groundwater professionals and researchers, bringing together experts in the various inter-related disciplines in groundwater hydrology. Groundwater has emerged as a significant resource in safeguarding agriculture and drinking water security in many parts of the globe. India is, at present, the most prominent and fastest consumer of groundwater in the world. The role of groundwater in contributing to water security and searching for solutions for its conservation and sustainable management at present will play a crucial role in meeting the water demands of the population in future against the backdrop of climate change and ensuring food and water security for both the developed and developing countries. The aim of IGWC 2022 is to provide a common platform for researchers, academicians, water managers, industrialists and technocrats to discuss and present their vision for Effective Management of (sub)-surface water resources in arid and semi-arid regions.

About Department of Hydrology
The Department of Hydrology is one of the 23 academic departments of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. The Department came into existence with the inception of the International Post Graduate Course in Hydrology in 1972, being the first such a program in a developing country. The courses, offered by the Department are presently sponsored by the Government of India and UNESCO. The Department has eight dedicated full-time faculty members having specializations in surface water hydrology (Floods, Droughts), water resources systems, watershed management, Geo-hydrology, groundwater geophysics, stochastic hydrology, hydro-informatics, environmental hydrology, atmospheric physics, climate change, etc. The Department of Hydrology is commemorating its 50th anniversary this year.
